Not too much to report from the weekend. Got to spend some quality time with my boys (and man!) but nothing too exciting happened. Figured I would give an update on the kids.
Jackson has been talking up a storm. He points at what he is talking about and will babble a sentence out, of which I can usually make out 3 or 4 words. He knows at least 40 words at this point and amazes me daily with the new ones he comes up with. He's getting in to EVERYTHING and telling him NO doesn't really deter him from his goals. He eats EVERYTHING as well. There are few foods that he turns his nose up at which is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it's a lot easier getting him to eat his fruits and vegetables (unlike his brother). A complete curse because when I say he eats EVERYTHING that includes (but does not limit to) paper, dirt, cardboard, video games, remote controllers, shoes, socks, hair clips, etc. I found him with a rock his brother smuggled in the house but luckily fished it from him before disaster could strike. Shew! He's got a great sense of humor about him too...but he definitely has MY sense of humor. He laughs at the things people usually don't (and are frowned upon for) laugh at (very much like his mother). Including people falling down, hitting their heads, tripping, etc etc etc...I'll leave the more questionable ones to the imagination. What can I say? I find humor in the humorless and Jackson will find that it will help him keep a more optimistic outlook on life if he finds it just as ridiculous as I do :) He's very interested in all things "bathroom". When someone is "using the facilities" Jackson wants to be right there handing you the toilet paper. I'm not going to push him too early in to potty training but have a feeling he'll be easy with it...just like his big brother was (Knock on wood!)
Peyton has completed a month of school so far and I'm amazed daily at how much he is learning. This was our first week of having homework and as we sat at the table going over it, he was basically teaching me! He has this crazy memory on him and is really absorbing a lot. He's on his way to reading and is learning his "sight words" like a champ. I'm so very proud of all the accomplishments he is achieving and it warms my heart when the teacher sends home assignments he's done in school with praise on them. I remember how good it felt when I was in school and would get a paper saying "Good Job!" and try to make a big deal out of it for him so he feels the same way. He's making quite a few friends at school and it's amusing to hear him talk about his "buddies". Some of the new words and sayings he is picking up are questionable but I know that's all apart of being in school and making friends. God help him if the curse words begin though! I'm very proud of my big boy and actually enjoy sitting down in the evenings to work on homework with him...however, I know that I'm not going to hold my breath on enjoying THAT forever. When Algebra starts...Lindi hires a tutor. I can handle counting how many apples Meg bought at the market (9) but ask me was x= and I might start crying.
Chris is headed to Atlanta for a friends wedding in a couple of weeks and then Halloween is after that. I can't believe it's almost October!! Where has the time gone? I feel like I stay so busy all the time, I haven't had time to stop and smell the roses. Oh well, I enjoy every second of my crazy life.
